While you may be striving toward an improved fitness level, you can also acknowledge and appreciate where you are and how far you have come. Onward and upward.
Happy August! Is it me, or does it feel like it was early June just a moment ago? (I’m confident that I will feel this way about early August in a couple of months, so I’ll just chalk it up to my perception of time.)
I’ve been collecting running shirts since I started racing ten years ago, and it’s time to go through them and let some go. It seems like they multiply when you aren’t looking, though not so much over the past year or so…
I hope you had an excellent weekend! As we pass the middle of July, I’m thinking about ways to spend more time outside. It seems like the summer disappears quickly once we hit August, so I’m putting off the indoor projects right now and soaking up the sunshine. (I’m pretty sure the laundry can wait…)
Training season has started for this year’s fall races, and I’m thankful for the slightly cooler temperatures, even if the break in the heat is only temporary. K and I ran four miles in the rain yesterday, and we’re looking forward to getting back into a regular running routine over the coming weeks.
I hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend! K and I spent much of Sunday at his mom’s house, and it was so nice to visit with family and friends for an afternoon cookout. Laughter filled the air for a good portion of our time together, and I realized just how much I have missed regular family gatherings. Cheers to celebrating!
I hope that you feel you are making progress toward your fitness goals, you are enjoying the journey, and you’ve learned and applied at least one new approach as a result of reading my regular musings.
Ever have a day (or week) where you feel like you can’t catch up, no matter how hard you try? When you are trying to fit in multiple activities or tasks, keep your commitments to others, and meet a big deadline (or two), it might be tempting to skip your workout.
The month of June has arrived and it’s hot. 🥵 We only just turned on the air again last Friday — after running a fan for a few evenings, we realized that the furnace was still set to heat, rather than to cool.
After conversations with two marketing consultants last week, I started thinking about how the elements of strategy and tactics can be applied to fitness as well as business. So that we’re on the same page, “strategy” refers to the long-term mission or objective, and “tactics” refers to the short-term actions or projects that are used to move a business toward the long-term mission.
