I’ve been collecting running shirts since I started racing ten years ago, and it’s time to go through them and let some go. It seems like they multiply when you aren’t looking, though not so much over the past year or so…
Despite many of the large May races being canceled or postponed, I was overjoyed to see so many in the running community complete smaller, local races this past weekend. Waking up at 5am yesterday to support our running group was a breeze for this night owl because the prize was seeing many of our runners run their race. (Race day is one of a few special reasons for getting up early with a smile on my face and a very happy heart.)
A snowstorm is coming, and the snowplows are out. Can you hear your neighbors shoveling snow? City crews were up early today, taking care of clearing the streets and sprinkling salt so that drivers would be able to get where they need to go.
As we begin October, I’m reminded of how my running habits typically change around this time each year. Though I typically run outside year-round, I reduce my weekly run frequency and average distance over the late fall and early winter months in most years. This year will be a little different, as I’m planning to run more consistently over the coming colder season.
